From The Could Be Nothing Files: 57 ships Anchored off shore of NJ, MD/VA

UPDATED TOWARDS BOTTOM OF POST

From Investment Watch:
Not sure what’s going on, might be nothing, but never saw this before! In a Weather Program I use I have the program set to get Weather and Ocean reports from anchored ships off shore. In this case ships anchored offshore in the Mid Atlantic States off the coast of NJ and MD/VA.
On the marinetraffic.com website this is not shown, might be due to being to far off shore!
4 days ago there was 12 ships anchored in a group 100 miles offshore of MD and VA. Right now theres 23 ships anchored in this group
The last 2 days another group of ships, but spread a bit further apart is anchored off the NJ shore starting from 25 miles out to aprox 150 miles off shore. In all 32 ships are anchored.
In the FULL RES screen capture images I uploaded you will see this. Look for the Green Anchor Icons. Each Icon is a Anchored Ship. The blue flags are wind direction and wind speed reports from those ships. For more info I hover my mouse over the ship (which you will see in second image)

UPDATED -

From my friend, HRW:
Saw your post on unusual pattern of ships anchored off the eastern seaboard and thought I'd mention this as well.
I am including three photos I took in New York Harbor a couple of weeks ago.
This was the second time I was departing NY on a ship in the last 14 months and note security measures were much more apparent this time.
Police boats escorted us out of harbor while a NYPD helicopter hovered back and forth over our ship the entire length of the harbor.
What seemed even more out of the ordinary was the site of several barges anchored together in the bay. Barges are commonly seen on the river or in harbor, but I've never seen multiple barges anchored in pairs or multiples scattered in a random pattern like that before.
Don't know what to make of it but thought I'd mention it to you, given the topic of your post, "From The Could Be Nothing Files: 57 ships Anchored off shore of NJ, MD/VA". ???? - HRW

Anchored? PAST THE CONTINENTAL SHELF?
I don't think so.

But they are there. Without knowing what ships are there and why, you can bet conspiracy theories MUST abound.

MUST.

Therefore where is some info from the govt?

FWIW . . .via UKDailyMail, 2009:
Revealed: The ghost fleet of the recession anchored just east of Singapore

Via UK This is south devon:

THE number of giant tankers anchoring off the South Devon coast has been raised with maritime officials

Sign of economic downturn - no cargo to ship?

To me what you are seeing are ships, barges strategically placed to read wave height swell in real time of an impending incoming tsunami due to a large earthquake in the very near future. Also could be that an expected crustal pole shift is on the doorstep since the magnetic pole is now drifting towards Siberia at more than 50 mile per year. One more possibility is that the melt of the Greenland Ice Sheet has accelerated to a point that a "Day After Tomorrow" scenario could unfold at any moment!

From a retired Naval Officer:

Ships of all types are well advised to leave port and anchor, or loited in deeper water off the coast . . . in anticipation of a storm.

Putting out to sea could save your ship from damage caused by piers, or even being . . . gasp . . shudder. . . "grounded".

The disintegration of of the Brine Shelf is causing concern of sinkholes and the possibility of a new Inland Sea where States used to be. Not far from the New Madrid fault is the Ogallala Aquifer. Our quest for natural gas may have been short sighted.

I should post stuff like this all the time. It's fun to hear all the theories.

Well it could be tankers filled with oil, here in holland at any time there are numerous ships filled with milions of liters of oil just waiting just off the coast for the right time to sail in and sell the cargo, cus if its only 1 cent per liter higher on a couple of million liters that makes huge profits.

Maybe someone expects the oilprice to go up.

Obama sold us out to the Russians and Chinese, they are coming for all of us. Russians will attack from the East coast while china will attack on the west. They are waiting until another super storm hits, then attack the electrical grid sending the nation into a total blackout and then pull us all out one by one to FEMA camps and kill those not in need!

November is the starting point of what they are planning against all Americans. Spread the word be prepared to fight!
